We’re looking for an early-career engineer who wants to build something lasting in our new state of the art facility at Salisbury, on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a new role in our Engineering team, working closely with our Production team. The main focus is to support our maintenance approach from reactive to planned. You’ll develop and run a preventative maintenance program that improves the reliability of our production equipment, increases uptime and builds our in-house knowledge of our plant.
What will you be doing?
- Developing, scheduling and continually improving preventative maintenance programs for production equipment and support systems across multiple sites
- Ensuring our asset register and maintenance records are accurately maintained, including equipment history, OEM documentation and maintenance procedures
- Analysing breakdowns and downtime, leading root cause investigations, and putting corrective actions in place to stop failures happening again
- Tracking and reporting reliability measures such as uptime, breakdown frequency and the ratio of planned to reactive work
- Reviewing critical spares and recommending stock levels to reduce downtime risk
- Managing work orders from creation through to completion, and planning maintenance around production schedules with the Production team
- Coordinating external contractors, including scoping work, scheduling, checking safety compliance and signing off completed work
- Tracking maintenance costs and reporting on progress against plans and schedules
- Contributing maintainability and reliability input when new equipment is designed and installed
- Supporting a strong safety culture and compliance with food safety and quality requirements on site
What will make you successful?
You’re organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple priorities. You enjoy bringing structure to complex activities, following through on commitments and making sure the details are right.
You’ll bring:
- A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Initial experience in a manufacturing, maintenance or engineering environment (this can include Internships and vacation placements)
- A systematic, organised approach to planning, with strong attention to detail
- An analytical, problem-solving mindset and an interest in reliability engineering
- Clear communication skills, and confidence working with production staff, tradespeople and contractors
- Experience with a CMMS and in food manufacturing or GMP environments is a plus, but not essential
Why join Haigh’s?
At Haigh’s, we’re proud of our history, our people and the products we make. You’ll be moving into a newly created role where you’ll shape how we maintain our plant, whilst joining a friendly, down-to-earth team where people work together and support one another. You will receive mentoring from our Engineering Manager and exposure to a wide range of production equipment. Along with the opportunity to make a real impact in a well-established South Australian business, you’ll participate in our incentive scheme, have access to plenty of chocolate to eat on site and a range of other great benefits.
Inclusion matters at Haigh's. We believe that valuing differences in backgrounds, cultures, abilities and experiences helps create a workplace free from bias and prejudice. We're committed to making reasonable adjustments throughout our recruitment process and beyond, to ensure a barrier-free and supportive experience for all.
