Are you an experienced accounting professional eager to make an impact at Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate maker? Due to a recent vacancy, we are searching for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance Team. This full-time permanent position provides an exciting opportunity to collaborate with our Management Accountant and various business functions, ensuring accurate and efficient financial operations.

Reporting to the Management Accountant, the Assistant Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring accurate financial records, supporting compliance obligations and maintaining efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support month/year end close processes in QAD, including journals, reconciliations, reporting and data analysis.
  • Assist with month-end balance sheet reconciliations and reporting, including inventory and cost of goods sold analysis.
  • Monthly and Quarterly BAS preparation.
  • Collate financial data for Fringe Benefits Tax reporting.
  • Manage the Concur corporate credit card administration and reconciliations.
  • Analyse Income Statement variances and report findings.
  • Assisting with Fixed Asset Register maintenance.
  • Provide backup and support to the Finance Officer for daily bank reconciliations.
  • Continuous improvement of processes, templates, tools and procedures.


What You’ll Bring:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role, with a Diploma or Degree in Finance or equivalent qualification.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Positive can-do attitude.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (highly regarded).
  • Experience with intercompany accounts (highly regarded). 
  • The ability to manage deadlines and collaborate across departments.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
